No, I've not dropped off the face of the universe. It's just that (a) I really don't like this leg of the Tour; (b) the time difference means that I can never watch it live; and (c) I can never work the time difference out anyway!!
Is there anything more to say about this man? Bear in mind he missed Australia, one of the 500s he won in South American never counted cos he was given a points penalty, the joy of the Indian Wells victory was offset against the withdrawal from Miami and the clay season is something he can never gain points on because of his own superlative talent. And when Wimbledon came and we thought, way hey! points to be gained here ... Disaster!! But his hardcourt season has been both amazing and a joy and days into month 8 of his return after spending 7 months away ... he's back where he belongs.
You are an utter marvel, Rafa. None of us could have expected this, none of us even dared to dream it, yet look at you now.
He always has been and always will be our Number 1. But congratulations Rafa. No-one is more deserving.
And when the Prince of Darkness walks out last to enter the court in tomorrow's final, enjoy the walk, Djokovic cos Rafa is better than YOU!!
Wooffie: I taped the Fognini match and settled in after work, with a glass of wine....gulping it during the 1st set...and in the 2nd set, double breaker at 0-3, and break point at 1-4. I admit, even tho I have seen it many times, I thought our boy was done. I was already rationalizing the defeat. But then...the greatest competitor....our guy...did what only he has done so many times. He refused to be defeated! Poor Fognini thought he had his scalp. Rafa broke him mentally. Lots more wine for me! And tomorrow, the PoD will again be defeated. Rafa will put his foot on the gas and a big punctuation mark on his #1 ranking. VAMOS Rafa! BTW, my Rafateer friends and I are planning the trip to Rome next year to see out boy, a rock star..in the flesh!! hope to see you there.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I've ever been happier for anyone in my life. This Rafa is...well, heck, we're all running out of positive adjectives to describe. I guess if i HAD to use just one word for him it would be HEART! He has it all & he certainly has mine. I can't help but still dread a tiny bit tomorrow's match but Rafa is where he has deserved to be for so long....NUMERO UNO!!! BTW: We have been missing you, Wooffie!

ReplyDelete"Steal" ?? Do you know what? I can barely understand why I'm giving this question a reply. That picture is all over the internet. All over. I saw it in so many different quarters. Many. Which one would you have me "credit"?? And I saved it as I found it and didn't bother my arse cutting anyone's name who had added it to a screen shot that they don't have the copyright to in the first place. And if I didn't see that @RAFAddicted had tweeted it, it's because I unfollowed her many months ago, with further reason now why.
DeleteRafa's fans copy and use photos from all over the internet. It's silly to start a feud over credits, when the photographers who took the pix are the ones who do all the travel/work/etc Although I would like a job traveling photographing Rafa Nadal! Bloggers should chill out and stop this silly feuding. It's ridiculous...and Rafa's people would not like childish squabbles. It makes some of his fans look bad.
ReplyDeleteHey ... I'm very chilled about this. You don't like what I do on this blog ... don't come it, it really is that simple. I don't have to do any of this. I do it as a hobby and a bit of fun. And if people want to argue the toss about "credit" to something they have no rights over in the first place rather than celebrate Rafa Nadal being No. 1 ... hey the floor is yours. I'm over it.
