ArmadaWatch ...

A quick one from me tonight folks.

I've been at work all day and have travelled down to London this evening, so I'm tucked up in bed and ready for some shut eye before my big day tomorrow.

But *yahoo* ... how happy am I to report that Team Armada are still striving forward. Daveed won his singles match today in straight sets, but the result of the day is Feli!! To be honest, I didn't give him much hope against Pico Monaco but would you believe it? He won in straight sets!! Well done Feli. After your exertions yesterday, that is a great result.

And the news gets better for me. I was dreading a poor OOP on Centre tomorrow, and having to be subjected to Feds, but no! Mr Wimbledon has looked kindly on ME, and has promptly bumped him off Centre and on to Court No. 1. I'll be able to see Andy Murray on Centre and best of all, Feli is playing tomorrow!! *happydance* He's on an outside court against Jo-Wilfrid Tsonga which I believe is ticketless, so we should be able to cue to get into his singles match.

Stayed tuned for all our exploits tomorrow, and I'll be tweeting from @Wooffie1965 until my battery runs out.

VAMOS!!

Let's enjoy that FeliFerrer celebration, eh?

Total joy by this scratch pairing ... well done, boys. And THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

FeliFerrer!!

The latest budding Armada bromance erupted in some Twitter love tonight as Daveed posted how happy he was to be in the quarter-finals of the doubles with Feli, and Feli responded with a hearty THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

I can't express how happy I am too that they made it through today's match and indeed, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU boys. Because after looking at tomorrow's Order of Play and because of Federer's cake walk draw, the big Guns of Murray, Djokovic, Daveed, JWT, Roddick et al, are all playing on Tuesday. Whereas when I turn up on Centre Court on Wednesday, who will be left on there?? ... aye, Him. Feds. And more than likely, Lleyton bloody Hewitt too.

2003 anyone?

But at least there's the Spanish pairing in the doubles. And I warn Mr Wimbledon now. Forget the British stiff upper lip, forget the famed politeness, and forget the ordered queueing ... "Elbow" Wooffs is in town. And come Hell or high water, I am getting on that court to see that match.

You have been warned ... *giggle*

ArmadaWatch ...

So lets deal with the Singles first.  Firstly, Nico continued to quietly move through the tournament with another straight sets victory over Bogomolov by an impressive 6-2, 6-2 scoreline.  His sponsor has a strange idea though of what Spain's national colours are though.  I mean ... red and pink??

No such confusion with Feli though, as he wears a fabulous mono-block concoction of red and yellow.  In fact ... I covet that shirt.  I want it.  I want him to take it off immediately and hand it to me now!  *slaps self*

Phew.  Needed that ... Anyhow onto his match.  His was playing Tursonov of Russia, and as I was desperate for him to still be in the competition by the time I arrive on Wednesday, I'd all but convinced myself that he'd end up doing a Feli and losing in his opening round ... again.  And when he lost a tight first set on a tiebreaker, I thought uh-oh ... here we go.  Not so.  Amazingly (for Feli), he secured a double break and took the second set 6-2.  And here's where all the drama starts.  The third set went on and on, but unlike the Masters, there's no tie-break decider when the players get to 6-6.  So when that happened, Feli just had to tough it out.  And tough it out he did!!  He secured victory by 9-7.  YAHOO!!  Well done, Felito!!

There was no rest for the wicked though, as FeliFerrer were still scheduled to play their doubles match today.  Feli is here obviously checking with security that there will be someone courtside to keep an eye on that magnificent man bag of his.  I mean ... its so stupendous that a classy, elegant man like Feds might want to waltz off with it ... *erm*.

So again dressed in that mono-block shirt that I'm going to rip off his back, he and Daveed got down to business.  It was a great start by the boys as they won the first set against Melzer and Paya by a 6-3 scoreline.  But then the Austrians fought back, and won the second by the same score, 6-3.  So we were into a decider.

The set moved back and forth, and for the second time today, Feli found himself battling it out in the third set after it tied 6-6 until there was an ad winner.  The boys had some match points, but couldn't convert.  It was utter agony for me as I was following LiveScores ... which STUCK!!  Thankfully, we had @loobyloo222 courtside, who kept us all updated via Twitter.  Thanks Duchess Loobs!  But then at 8-8, the boys broke the Austrians and won out by a 10-8 scoreline!!  VAMOSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

Its very unusual for Feli to have to work so hard in one day.  *erm*  And apparently he was visibly tiring by the end of it.  But it seems that little Daveed played a stormer, and the scratch pairing of FeliFerrer live to fight another day.

At the end of the match, Daveed threw himself into Feli's arms (*envy*), and Feli swirled him around.  Hehe ...

So not too bad so far for the Armada.  Still three of them left in the singles, and one doubles pairing before tomorrow's matches.  Good luck, boys for tomorrow.  And VAMOS!!

Nominated by Melissa and I do believe that credit goes to our @creamola_foam who took this beauty in Indian Wells this year.  What a corker of our Rafa!!

ArmadaWatch ...

"Rain stopped play" is the order of the day today.

Daveed did actually manage to get on court, but was only able to complete the first set which he took 6-4 before the rains came, but he has at least got back on and has defeated Pospisil, 6-4 in the second.  Feli hasn't even struck a ball.

The boys hung out and played games whilst they waited with another of Feli's bromantic partners - Milos Raonic - and they all pulled finger gestures for the picture.

I have no idea what Deli and George's meant. Maybe its a coded message to Judy such as "Put the kettle on, luv." ...

Strictly Come Tennissing ...

It may still only be Summer *cough* in the UK, but I'm sure the "stars" are aligning to take part in what is now a British television tradition ... Strictly Come Dancing.

I have a couple of candidates.

Seeing as Fer is now out of the Olympics and is twiddling his thumbs, and a certain other snake hipped Spaniard might need a little practice of his footwork ... how about it, boys??

ArmadaWatch ...

The build up is over, the jackets, Singapore Airlines ties and white trilbies are now packed away ... its down to business. So how are the Armada fairing??

Well ... yesterday's results were a bit of a mixed bag. Up in singles we had Nico Almagro, who put out the Serb *hooray* Viktor Troiki in two sets, 6-4, 7-6. Then it was Fer's turn and he faced Denis Istomin. He'd been at some Adidas press conference a couple of days ago, and had expressed a bit of regret about staying in the Olympic Village as you can see in this link. He's all blah, blah, blah about the travelling and the time it takes the tennis players to get across to Wimbledon. But I think this a little odd because you know the pictures that were brought of Team Armada in what looked like Rafa's Wimbledon house? Well, it turns out that RFET have rented a house in Wimbledon so that its somewhere for their players to sleep the night before their matches, as well as being a place for them to hang out before and after practice.

Obviously on Friday night, the team did take part in the opening ceremony so its more than likely that they slept over at the Olympic Village, but seriously ... was a car journey at fault for your performance yesterday, Fer? He lost. *rolls eyes* He went down n the first set, 6-4, but rallied back in the second to take it to a tie-breaker. It was rather nip and tuck, but he worked his way into a position to have set point with his two serves to come ... but he failed to convert. And typical Fer, he double faulted to hand Istomin the chance to serve out for the match which he duly did. So Fer is out.

We have a mixed story in doubles too. Team FeliFerrer took the first on a tie-breaker, lost the second on a tie-breaker, but then did magnificently to win out in the third by 8-6. Sadly Team M&M lost out narrowly in two tie-breaker sets.  :(

I'm not sure what happens with the defeated players now - whether they go home or stay around to cheer on the rest of the team. And I don't know if any of them will be able to enter the mixed competition either.  I don't know much, do I?  But then, of course, I'm just a silly Armada fangirl.  ;)

Anyhow, its over to Daveed and Feli today to keep the Spanish flag flying. Good luck boys, and VAMOS!!

Awww ...

The young Nadal family.

With mum looking super glamorous and Rafa hard staring his Dad ...

No doubting their intentions ...

Both my Rose and Rafan's Bailey were ready to cheer on the Armada as they made their entrance into the arena at last night's opening ceremony.

A little later I had to wrestle the flag from out of Rose's mouth as she tried to chew the little wooden pole its attached to.  *rolls eyes* ...

ArmadaWatch ... The Opening Ceremony

I know we were sad that Rafa couldn't participate in all of this, but he was tweeting regularly last night to all his mates, so he was happy enough to enjoy it on the TV like the rest of us.

Feli - on the other hand - decided to make us a personal album.  Above are the Quatro Amigos that have been hanging out together since they arrived in London.  They actually managed to make the Spanish outfits look reasonably smart ... and doesn't Daveed wear a hat well?  Very impressed.

Feli with Marcel sans hat ...

Marcel with hat ...

Feli with Rafa's friend and flag bearer, Pau Gasol ...

Feli with the ladies (with scary eyes) ... now there's a surprise - Feli with women that is, not the scary eyes.  :D  Should this one be nominated for Maymo's School of Photography?? ... just asking.

Los Quatro Amigos with "George" and Pau ...

Feli captured the magnificent lighting of the flame.  (And the back of Marcel's head ;)  That was such a highlight of the show!

Feli with our goalkeeper ... Manchester United's David de Gea.

Feli and Kobe Bryant ...

Ohh!!  Fer was there.  All 6' 2" of him looking pretty short amongst the basketball boys ...

Now that yesterday is all over and the Games have begun, I'm really looking forward to my adventure there next week.  Vamos Rafa!!

The boys are ready. They are suited and booted and waiting to take part in the ceremony.

Although Feli looks half asleep. :D

VAMOS ESPANA!! and we are thinking of you, Rafa!!!!!

ArmadaWatch ...

So what have Team Armada been up to?  Well yesterday was press day, and here they all are at the conference.  There are no reports that this presser turned into a fanboy Q&A session ... *erm*

I know I posted this yesterday, but I'm sure we all want to see another glimpse of Feli's handsome comb over.  And Fer and Nico laughing at it ... like you can talk with that barnet, Fer.

Here's Fer giving us a *thumbs up* at the Olympic Village restaurant ...

And another one with his friend Pico as they make their way to practice ... seeing as he doesn't seem to be hanging around much with his Spanish team mates.

And Feli tweeted this "arty" picture of the boys as they pass away the hours before tonight's opening ceremony.  And yes ... I still find him TOTALLY sexy in his glasses ... *thud*

Our Spanish Prince ...

He's a Prince ... a wonderful person, a man with the biggest heart I've ever known.

He is the one that truly can meet Triumph and Disaster and treat those two Imposters just the same. Regardless of what he may or may not be thinking, he took the time to wish his friend Pau well tonight and to enjoy his day ... and Pau responded with a big hug ...

*wipes tear*

For the first time in a while, I don't know what to write about. I don't know what to say. But one thing's for sure. Rafa would never ever wish us not to enjoy any of all of this. He would think that mad! So especially for us in the UK, and for those of us lucky to go to this Olympics and be a part of it, we are going to treasure this experience and at all times ... remember Rafa.

Team Armada's boys and girls looked like they had a taxing day today.  Good to see that Feli - at least - is doing some work in catching some rays to tan those shins and thighs.  *thud*

And here they all are, back at the Team Casa probably watching a bit of Spain in the footie competition this afternoon.  Now then ... this looks suspiciously like Rafa's Wimbledon house rather than the Olympic Village, so I'm not quite sure what's going on here.  *rubs chin*

I have heard though that the neighbours are ab-sol-u-tely appalling ... *cough* Judy Murray *cough*

Hhhmmm ... pity this individual didn't follow Feli's lead by joining in with the thigh tanning opportunity,  Speaking of which ... is Feli actually helping with dinner ... or just posing by the counter top???

And here they all are looking cheesy before tucking in ...  I thought you didn't eat till at least 10 pm at night, chaps??  That's what you all tell me when I've tried to get a decent meal in Spain.  *whistle*

And this is a happy looking Daveed with "George" and Aranxta.

I wonder what tomorrow's instalment will bring ... an actual sighting of Fer and Nico, for example???

She's a saucy minx, that Judy Murray.

When I first set up this feature, it was for US to watch Feli. Not to bring reports of him doing it the other way around!! *shakes fist* And she's not bothered is she ...

And check out the cheeky message in reply from Feli ... "Deli" indeed ... pfft.

Your card's marked Murray. Remember I'm in town next Wednesday ...
