Pfft! It's a cakewalk ... !!!

Cakewalk, cupcake ... pfft. Let's scoff the lot and be done with it! Hehe ...

With Rafa seeded at Number 5, all eyes on the draw this morning centred around a certain Spaniard's quarter. How did @loobyloo222 tweet it??
"Three hours and we'll know which lucky group of pigeons will have the big cat amongst them."
Well ... Smugly, Mooray and the Prince of Darkness better get ready to have their feathers ruffled.

OK, let's get the blah blah caveats out of the way ... all of them have get there first - I know that - but if Rafa was ever going to do something the hard way ... this is it.

And I feel totally with colm about it.

Sure, ugly old PoD turned out to be the one with the cupcake, but the Wimbledon seeding committee must be licking their lips with the potential matches they might have on their hands. Rafa vs. Federer. Rafa vs. Murray. Rafa vs. Djokovic. Hell, I'm excited about that!!

I just feel, my lovely blog readers, that Rafa's comeback was geared initially with the French Open in mind. That's his bread and butter, that's what he's all about ... he's Rafael Nadal, the King of Clay, and I just feel that if Rafa could choose just one trophy to win this year ... it would be that one. I think my body was wracked in anxiety for the whole of that two weeks because I just sooooo wanted him to do it ... and I equally wanted so much, for someone else not to.

And after Rafa's fantastic win two weeks ago ... hell, anything else is just gravy.

Wimbledon has always been one of Rafa's favourite tournaments, and I'm sure there's nothing he would like more than to win it again. But I just feel that his injury lay off has perhaps given him a new perspective. He knew it was right to give his body a rest after Roland Garros and to not compete at Halle. He knew that it would perhaps put him at a bit of a disadvantage in terms of grass court practice and that it perhaps would initially temper his Wimbledon chances. But he got a match today at Hurlingham, by all accounts played pretty well, and after hearing the draw this morning ... I bet Rafa thought - Bring It On!!

He loves a scrap and he loves to fight. He loves to suffer. He loves to have to pitch himself against the best, and above everything else ... he loves to compete.

I think this draw is right up Rafa's street and I bet he can't wait for it all to start.

The ultimate warrior faces the ultimate of draws. I feel it in my bones that Rafa is about to embark on writing another marvellous chapter in his already remarkable story.

I can't wait. Let's get ready to be strapped into the Rafarollercoaster. It's here ... it's Wimbledon. LET'S VAMOSSSSSSSSS!!!

  3. Once again Wooffie I'm with you on this one. Having suffered so much during RG (especially so because I was on holiday for the last 3 days of it and couldn't see the SF or Final and had a decidedly unfriendly internet connection), I am completely okay with his Wimbledon draw. I also think he has a new perspective, a new 'colm' and does indeed love to scrap and fight. I'm ready for the new Rafarollercoaster ride to begin. Bring it on!! Let's Vamos! for title no 3 at Wimbledon. Vam3s!

  6. Oh it's gonna be a great 2 weeks....Rafa will be fancying his chances...he'll make us sweat with a couple of too close matches in the first week, but just wait for the second week! I reckon Rolf could take out PoD, and even Smugly could lose before the QF....Mooray is capable of beating himself on any given day,so it's all to play for.

As ever...Vamos Rafa, we'll keep the faith :)
