Some pictures ...

Yep. Some pictures ... they speak to me.  I don't like Roger Federer, I never have and I never will.

But I believe that Rafa does.  And there is something between these two guys whose folklore will last longer than perhaps even I'm watching tennis.  And they've wrote their own pages into the history books of world sport - never mind just tennis.

I don't need to enter into any diatribe about what I think about it all, because that's just me.  And that picture is them.  No ugly roaring, no ripping of shirts, no orchestrated, foul, ugly displays of nationalism ... just two men who've been protagonists during a very special period in men's tennis.

This picture touches me ... and who captured it?  Well, who else could capture a picture like that?  Clive Brunskill, of course.

  1. I agree, it is a very special picture of two very special men. Honest mutual respect for each other. I'm not especially a Fed fan myself, but I can stomach a loss to him much more easily than to another certain Serbian twonk. (I love that word.) Thankfully Rafa won today but sadly Fed's fans will not take it well.

  2. They are both class acts and it was nice to see them playing against each other today.

  3. Occasionally a photograph will capture an iconic moment and preserve it in perfect eloquence. This is one of those photos. It says everything good about tennis at its best. I may not like Federer, but I like what he and Rafa have done for tennis: these two set the standard for on-court sportsmanship and honest respect for each other, the game, and the fans.

    Tennistas, take note, please.
