Nicely does it, Rafa ...

Due to being a Sky Sports subscriber and the marvel of the invention of apps on an i-Phone, (and oh ... my boss being out of the office when Rafa's match started), I managed to watch Rafa's opening match today whilst at work. I'm not such a rebel though ... it was also conveniently played over my lunch break. ;)

Well, the 6-1, 6-2 scoreline suggests almost a mullering, and whilst the first set was worthy of being called that and Marinko Matosevic celebrated his first point won like it was match point, the start of the second set told a very different story.

Hey, it happens. Rafa was literally walking away with it, when his mental concentration decided to take a walk too. He lost his opening service game, went 2-0 down, and then on two occasions, Matosevic had break points for a double break and a 3-0 lead. But what's that famous, old adage ... you've got to take your opportunities when they're presented to you ... and he didn't. And he didn't win another game for the rest of the match.

That's what Rafa does, that's who he is.

I have to say though ... where's Rafa's pale turquoise shirt (or whatever shade of blue it's supposed to be)?? A white top and red bandana?? I know my lovely friend, Rafan, is going to be a bit gutted because he's been wearing white for practice and now white for his matches, when she loves to photograph him in various different shades that denote the different days she's there watching him.

Tsk, Rafa.

He plays Philip Kohlschreiber in his next match tomorrow. Over my lunch-time. Well done Mr Monte Carlo OOP organiser. :))
