Rafa formally announces that he's withdrawing from the WTF ...

Well ... it's not exactly come as a surprise, but today via the ATP website, Rafa announced that he would not be participating in Paris or the World Tour Finals in London.
"It’s disappointing for me to miss the last two tournaments of the season in Paris and London, but it doesn't come as a surprise. I will hopefully resume my tennis practice soon since I am making good progress with my recovery from injury. I am not ready to compete in time for these events so I will continue my recovery in Mallorca and work hard to be back as soon as possible."
How long ago is it now since Toni gave his last "10-15 days to resume practice" quote. Exactly.

But it's comforting news to hear that he's making good progress, and we'll just carry on doing what we've been doing of late. Wait till he's ready ...

  1. I haven't listened to Toni for a very long time, but the docs did say he'd be able to start training again by now. I'm getting nervous and antsy all over again...I sure hope he really is "making good progress" and they're not just soothing him. It must have been difficult this week to be among all the Armada et al. and not be able to play.

  2. I found his Facebook entry today to be positive in that he wants to play tennis and wants to be back on the court by the end of the year. Obviously what he wants, and what his body says could be two different things. It is anxious as a fan to have to do nothing other than sit back and wait, but I can't wait to see those first pictures of him back on the training court.

  3. And when he does come back, I won't be able to see it because I'll be weeping like an ass out of relief and joy and sheer sentiment. Pffft. Maybe I should start crying now and get it out of my system...Thanks for making me feel a bit better. 8`S
