Congratulations Andy!!

A new Grand Slam champion was crowned last night in the shape of Andy Murray. Its taken him 5 attempts and 5 sets to do it, but I'm genuinely pleased for him that finally he's achieved it. And I welcomed the canny reminder of how loathsome some of the Prince of Darkness's behaviour is, and I revel in the fact that he's never managed to retain a Slam title, only a 500 series in Dubai and favoured fortune in Miami. Irksome creature.

I'm sure Rafa has sent a private message of congratulations to his friend, Andy, whilst a public one appeared on his Facebook today ...
"Congrats to Andy to achieve his first Grand Slam. He and Nole has been played a great US Open final, both deserved to win."
At first I felt the hand of Benito behind that statement ... but then when you read the grammar, maybe not. ;)

So congratulations once again to Andy Murray, to Judy and Kim, and of course ... his little wooffers Maggie and Rusty, who I'm sure were absolutely delighted.

  1. The tv commentators went on & on & on regaling the glories of the "Prince of Darkness"...so much so that I had to turn down the sound. I'm glad you brought up the fact that he's really not won much since Australian Open. I'm so very happy for Andy tho. As always, much appreciation for your great posts.

  2. Congrats to Andy! I don't normally support him, but so pleased that he won over the PoD. Just like Rafa predicted last year, he hasn't been able to maintain that incredible form he played with last year and is losing many of the titles. Looks as though he was just a one-year wonder....5 x GS champion or not, he'll never be in Rafa's league. Ever.

    1. And its not just about the titles, is it Jackie? Its about handling yourself, your manners, your behaviour. So no! Never, ever will he be in Rafa's league.
