Rafa withdraws from Cincy ...

You will all, of course, know by now the news that Rafa has withdrawn from Cincinnati.

This is how he broke it on his Facebook ...
"Hi all, another message to announce something that definitely doesn't make me happy, but unfortunately I won't be competing at the tournament in Cincinnati next week. I am still not ready to play. I have many fans in Cincy and unforgettable moments such as 2008. I am continuing with my recup and practice. Thanks!"
If you've been following @bluemathilde from the practice court this week, you will know that she announced yesterday that there would be no practice for Rafa. I thought that might be ominous, but was more thinking along the lines that he was hurting, and just couldn't play that day. Twitter-talk suggests that he did, in fact, travel to see his doctor and that the outcome was that he wasn't ready, hence the announcement. He has an official "doctor's note" to allow him to withdrawn from this Masters.

Its very sad news for Rafa, and also sad news for those fans who were going to Cincy to see him. It sucks, and I know that feeling all too well. However, I will keep saying this ... if time is what it takes, then time is what he should have. There will be rumours abound over the next couple of weeks either writing Rafa off for the season or that he's going to make some remarkable come-back for the US Open. At this point, we can only wait and see what develops.

Good luck, Rafa!! Your fans are behind you!!
