OK ... Feli's injured at the moment, something he did last week which eventually forced him to pull out of his first round match at the French Open whilst trailing 0-5. But the thing is, whilst he had a good run at the Australian Open until facing Rafa, and at Barcelona he did OK and should have done better when having match points to beat Daveed, his season has been an utter nightmare as he's gone out in the first round of every single other tournament.
Its a shame really, as 2011 was a great success for him as he went back to the top 20 for the first time in years, and after the Australian Open, it got even better as he rose to #No. 15. The ultimate prize for his success would be to get that 4th singles spot in the Olympics playing for Spain ... which would have been at the expense of Fer, as Fer's career was pretty much in free-fall. But slowly and surely, Fer has started to string matches together, and as Feli has fallen apart, the French Open was the tournament that would decide between them who would get that final berth. With Feli falling and Fer reaching the third round, he will go to the Olympics at the expense of Feli as the places are determined by the ATP rankings. Again, that's a shame for Feli because as the Olympics will be played at Wimbledon, he's a much better grass court player than Fer and indeed, Nico, so if it was by choice, maybe Spain would have picked him.
But to be honest, its down to him, isn't it? And his results this year have been pretty dire.
But Feli's not one to let the grass grow under his feet, and is spending his time as only Feli does ... by attending a party at the opening of a new Hugo Boss store. :D I see the beard is back, he's looking fit, but rumours are abound that he's split from his girlfriend, Ursula. Shame that, I think he quite liked her. I've no idea who the woman is that is plastered to him in the above picture.
By the way ... my FerWatch feature is taking a sabbatical at the moment as I'm still a bit cheesed off with him over that over-the-top celebration against Rafa in Madrid the other week.
Shameful.
But ... if, by chance, he does decide to strip to his undercrackers then perhaps under those sort of circumstances, I may re-consider ... if pushed mind. And forced to. Seriously ...
