Where to start? OK ... so we know that it was a special dinner for Rafa's Foundation tonight and all the proceeds go to it. And a big credit to Ines (@gandaines2) for the source of the video clip below as TVE televised things from it. And even though when you play it, and you don't understand a word, sometimes the power of not getting the language fades into insignificance as all you do is watch Rafa, with his body language and with his poise, and I do actually really find it rather amazing that this young man can carry himself so well, and speak so eloquently when it comes to something he cares about.
This word "passion" has been brought up rather a lot of late. Indeed, I've gone on about it quite a bit on here. For obvious reasons in his career he has to work at it, but when it comes to what he sees first hand with regard to his Foundation, passion comes easy.
I was really taken by Rafa last year when he did his trip to India after the USO, and remember when he did Q&A when he used to do his blogs with The Times? Well, I got a question published about it. I'm not shy of self promotion on here *cough*, but that question and more to the point - Rafa's answer - is something I shall forever hold dear and this is an extract ...
" ... Can you briefly describe what it means to you to see the results of your foundation and the people it helps for yourself? Wooffs, England""RN - Many thanks. I think it is very important to do things for the ones who most need help. In my case I love kids and I had the chance through my foundation with the help of my mother to help kids there. Very good and positive experience considering they are probably happier than other people in our part of the world that have almost everything. A good lesson to learn."
.. and you can just see within Rafa from the pictures yesterday and the video clips and tonight in his interview, just how good and positive an experience Rafa finds it.
Again ... just when you think you couldn't admire this young man any more ... you just do.
Here is Ines's clip ...
