Injury woes ...

Have you been reading across the interweb that Rafa could potentially not appear in the Abu Dhabi? There's been a report in the printed La Marca that he's doubtful because of an issue with his shoulder. There's no direct link, so I can post anything, but there is a bit of chat around about it, and there's nothing else for it but to wait and see.

The obvious area where Rafa can work on to gain some improvement, is the serve. But is he physically not up for it for some reason? We saw the US Open serve only the once - at that tournie - and before the end of that year, he was ruled out of Paris because of it. It was also reported that he had issues with it (with a visit to the doctor) whilst he was back in training after the Asian swing, and is feeling the repetitive stress of over-training it again?

In addition, there's this [mangled] report that he had some treatment on his knees again on the 14th December ...
"Rafa Nadal goes through Vitoria to treat his battered knees
The USP La Esperanza clinic yesterday told an illustrious visitor. And is that the tennis world number two and recent winner of the Davis Cup, Rafael Nadal, spent yesterday revised its facilities to his battered knees. As you may recall, was the treatment designed by Dr. Mikel Sanchez allowed the Spaniard to his best last year after suffering an injury ordeal and pain in their joints".
Not a real surprise, as he had that injection to his knee during the DC weekend. If there is one wish I could bestow on Rafa for 2012, above all else ... its be healthy.
