Stunning Rafa ... just stunning!! Who else started watching the match from behind the sofa and ended it on their feet whooping with joy, pride and delight?? I expected a tight match, and I expected Rafa to drop at least a set, and whilst the first set was fairly evenly matched, when Rafa served at 5-6 down and you thought the tie-break was inevitable, what happened? Yep, Murray played outstanding, broke him, and took the set.
So much now has been made at what happened on the Rafa serve when at 1-2 down in the second when Murray hit a "simple" forehand out that would have given him 2 break points. But one thing people ought to understand, having break points against Rafa doesn't mean to say that his opponent is going to take them ... but regardless, and whether Murray had a mental breakdown or not, Rafa went on a storming 7 game winning streak which took in the second set and he went on to make a double break on Murray to take the third. An early break in the fourth gave him the advantage, and in this set Murray did actually have 2 break back points on him ... but Rafa fought like an absolute tiger and crushed Murray in his wake. And so Rafa is through to his 5th Wimbledon final by a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 scoreline.
And I don't want to jinx him, but I cannot heap enough praise on Rafa for how well he played yesterday, he was absolutely imperious, superlative ... the best I've seem him play for all of this year.
Its Djerk he faces tomorrow as the French Flake that is Tsonga took him to a fourth set but didn't have enough to win. I was at the hairdresser's today and my hairdresser was talking to another client and they were both admiring of Rafa (I said nothing, just listened). And Damian said what he like best about Rafa was that he just didn't want to win ... he wanted to totally annihilate his opponents.
And that's what I absolutely hope with all my heart that he does to Djerk tomorrow. Come on Rafa ... you can do it, you can DO it!!!
