Well, the tennis world re-aligned itself as everything went back to its old order as the final of a Grand Slam was once again played between Rafa and Roger Federer.
Rafa looked nervous as Feds took a break and an early lead for 5-3 in the first set, when Rafa called the trainer to see to his foot strapping on a troublesome blister. Of course we read about gamesmanship and all that guff, but all we were bothered about was *yikes* ... trainer. Anyhow, it seemed to ease for Rafa and he went on a blistering ('scuse the pun) run of 4 games, playing really well and taking the set 7-5,

So onto the second, and there was a break of serve on Feds first service game and Rafa seemed well in control of the match ... but then he lost his own after having saved two break points and it was back on serve. But then joy! Rafa broke straight back and was ready to serve at 5-4, it gets to deuce ... and the bloody rains came. Thankfully, it wasn't too long a break, but it meant the players had to start right from the off with no warm up. But Rafa gets set points, and loses them ... and Feds gets a break point ... and takes it. Damn!! It then goes to a tie-breaker and we strapped ourselves in, but Rafa won it, 7-3. Yay!! So with a 2 set advantage, he was on his way ... wasn't he??
Well it seemed so when he broke Feds to go 4-2 up ... but Feds broke straight back and it stayed on serve until Rafa was pants and lost his serve to allow Feds to serve out for the set, 7-5.
But we needn't have worried, as Rafa's dominance once again came to the fore and he raced away with the third set and the match, 6-1.

When he got his match points ... oh, lovely Rafa ... there were tears forming in his eyes as he stood on the verge of his own piece of history ... and took it.
YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Rafa has equaled Borg's record of 6 victories at the French Open and has now moved into double digits for his Slam wins. Rafa sank to his knees on victory and pulled his shirt over his face. We had a few tears and I think the relief of this very trying and difficult season all came to pass. This was one of his most grittiest and determined victories ever. Not pretty in parts, hard work, mentally draining ... but he's not the King of Clay for nothing. Well done my lovely ... we are PROUD. And VAMOSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
