10 things I love about Rafael Nadal ...

OK ... this video is cheese-tastic ... but I'm struggling to do this blog at the moment. So ... what are the 10 things that I love most about Rafa??

1. The way he is with his fans.

He's just brilliant. Walking the line, signing all that's put before him, the endless cries of "Rafa!", "Rafa!" and he just does it regardless. In Rome at the end of the tournament and after the trophy ceremony, he just went round the whole stadium signing things, giving that little momento to people. Just fantastic.

2. His tennis.

Boring answer, but true. I've never seen the like before, nor will I probably see it again. Its raw and exciting, and just ... him.

3. His on-court passion.

I love that he allows us to see all his emotions out there. From the screams and the Vamos!! when he's hit a good shot, to the tears on victory, because of what it means to him. Stand out moments, Monte Carlo and the French Open ... still brings a lump to my throat.

4. His humility and respectfulness.

There's nothing arrogant or big-headed about him. He never claims to be the best and is respectful to his opponents. He's had 2 slam victories in the FO 08 and Australia 09, where his opponent was crushed, yet he gave up his own victory moments not to be crass and to be mindful of how Feds might be feeling.

5. The bum and biceps.

Obviously ...

6. His sense of humour.

The fact that he likes to laugh and joke, be young, be who he is.

7. His dorkinesss.

For all his prowess on court, being the best sportsman in the world for what he does, I just love the awkwardness about him, the shyness, the funny faces he pulls. Its lovely.

8. His love of his family and friends.

He's such a grounded individual, so full of love and respect for those around him and what they've brought to him.

9. That he brought me new friends.

He did. Having a love of Rafa brought me to the internet, to find a thread about him where I could finally share my thoughts and views on him, to becoming friends with those that also posted. And now we are in each others' lifes, having a good time, sharing the fun things, going to watch Rafa play, having our days out and holidays together. Two years ago I didn't know these lovely ladies, I would never had met them in my 'real' life; and now here we are, sharing all that is good about life. Its great, and Rafa is at the heart of it.

10. His smile.

The most beautiful, engaging thing about him. And I'm happy now that we get to see it so often. Vamos Rafa!!
