Rafa's season continues to rock 'n' roll as he ploughed his way to victoree in the Japan Open with a sound 6-1, 7-5 win against Gael Monfils today.
Rafa got off to a lightening quick start and played good, aggressive tennis as he romped home to take the first set 6-1. The second was more toe-to-toe until 4-4 when Rafa started to make his move on the Monfils serve. He didn't capture the break at that point, but at 5-5 he tried again and was successful. He then served out to win the match.
Mileage and fatigue is always a cause of concern for us at this time of year, and whilst his head was nowhere in it in Bangkok, and he's had a couple of laboured victories here with a potential loss yesterday, he played pretty well today and will enter Shanghai next week in slightly better form.
