"I came here ready to win, having won the previous tournaments I came here thrilled, but it has been a long way filled with hard work. I played better in the semifinals but not before, today’s has been a very nice match with a very tiugh opponent; I have had to open his backhand o that he wouldn’t feel comfortable on court, I have been alright phisically and mentally.
It’s an exciting day, a really difficult year and a very important tournament wich I have put a lot of work into. I couldn’t hold my nerves nor my anxiety, I was thinking about what had happened end my defeat last year but I have been able to overcome that. I’m very grateful for everybody’s support, including the crowds here, better than in previous years. This year I’m having a great season, the most important thing is to have Roland Garros in my hands, not being number 1.
At the end of the match, when you are aware that you are going to win, I’ve had a very big sag, a tremor I couldn’t control and a horrible serve. I will celebrate by training tomorrow in Queens."
