Rafa faced probably his sternest test so far in these championships when he took on another feted 'rising star' in the shape of Brazilian, Tomasz Bellucci.
Bellucci did play a hard hitting, aggressive game and Rafa was broken 4 times as he came out of it the 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 winner. Rafa is indeed taking more chances on his service games instead of remaining within his comfort zone, which is perhaps the reason for the breaks of serve. However, the commentary made a point that he is changing up his game a bit here in order to make the transition onto grass a little easier.
We will see.
Highlight of the match though was the audacious backhand, cross court winner that Rafa hit at 5-5, resulting in his infamous, though not often on display, 'lawnmower' celebration - and proved to be the platform that he built on to take the second set.
Next up an all Spanish encounter as Nico Almagro defeated a very tired Nando. Go Rafa!!
