Blink and you may have missed this.
Well, what with up-dating this blog, chatting to the Rafateers and general faffing, the match seemed to go past within the blink of an eye. In no time, Rafa was 5-0 up in the first set until Mayer finally got on the scoreboard before Rafa took the first set 6-1.
Rafan made quite a good point in that Mayer seemed to be like a poor man's Sod. Very similar sort of play, but with Mayer making a HEAPLOAD more errors.
He rallied a bit in the second - even though Rafa had his chances to push further ahead - and a break of serve was enough for Rafa to win out 6-3 in the second, in a match that lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Even taking account for the +20 seconds overruns. Watching Feds?
Sure, Rafa wasn't tested in this match to test how he may be after a 6 weeks' break, but we'll take more of this.
Fellow Spaniard, Marcel Granollers, waits for him in the next round.
