Well to be honest, I was a little disappointed to hear this morning that Rafa will not be appearing at the Queen's Club tournament in London next year as his pre-cursor to Wimbledon, but will instead be playing at Feds' personal sap tournament in Halle.
The story is here.
I'm sad because with Queens being a small, traditional tennis club, access to Rafa in and out and great practice court views were a plus. There were, however, plenty of minuses. Tickets prices for one - which were extortionate. The snobbery surrounding the place. No fan atmosphere whatsoever as it was full of corporate types, middle-Englanders in their Panama hats, boozed up Hooray-Henrys and a load of other twonks who thought tennis began and ended with Federer.
But its one less tournament for Rafa in the UK, which is a shame.
But to be honest, the over-riding memory of Queens just has to be ... The Smile. The Smile that launched thousands of Rafa-fans world-wide and turned Andrew Castle into the flakey bandwagon jumping fanboy that he is ... Its the true though that it has to be one of Rafa's best tennis moments ...
