Day 1 - Cote d'Azur Experience ...

Its taken me one hour and a bl**dy half to work out how to connect to blinkin' WiFi ... somehow I've done it ... so here's Day 1 of our adventure so far on the Cote d'Azur ...

I met Denz at 5.45 am this morning at Liverpool airport, somewhat bleary eyed but we were so looking forward to this trip. The Lady somewhat foolishly decided to wear all the Crown Jewels, which promptly set the security alarms off and she had to de-robe, be searched and even remove her shoes ... the Barefoot Contessa is her new title. .

After a good journey, we met up with Rafan in Nice airport. The two of them compared the colour of their spray tans and we promptly set on our way. We didn't think we could take the apartment till later this afternoon, but were lucky in that the greeter rang as we were in the taxi and we went straight to the apartment which is in a lovely location by the harbour. All I can say about it is ... *yahoo*

There's 3 bedrooms. Bedroom 1 is the master bedroom ... splendour like you would not believe complete with its own walk in wardrobe. The 2nd is at the front of the apartment with a balcony and a prime view over the harbour. The third is a shoe box.

In order to play things fair, we did the time honoured tradition of choosing lots. Whilst Rafan may be spending a night in her Tesco's carrier bag at Wimbers ... guess who pulled out the Golden Ticket for the master suite. Aye her ... she tried to tell us that she felt guilty, but then promptly legged it in there, dived on the bed and did a starfish to claim her price. Denz got the balcony room ... and I'm in the dratted shoe box.

So as to remind Rafan from whence she will come, a Tesco's carrier bag has been hung on her door handle so that she knows to make the most of her time in there.

We've then spent the day just having a lovely stroll along the Promenade des Anglais, taking in the blue Mediterranean, had a massive lunch, and then walked some more. The conversation has been spray tans, moisturising, sock pockets ... and oh, a bit of Rafa thrown in.

We've also noticed that this is the town of Yorkies. No ... not some chocolate bar favoured by truckers, but the dog variety. Rafan has squeeked at and tried to stroke every dog that has passed. She's currently up to 33 ... lets see what she scores by the end of the week.

We're going to go out for dinner in a little while, but are now getting a bit bushed from the early start and the travel. The girls wish you all well, and so far ... we are having a wonderful time.

Its sight-seeing in Monte Carlo tomorrow, so we're looking forward to that. And if I can break my record and get this thing to work in less than 1.5 hours, you never know ... you could be treated to another little report.
