Rafa started off the year in good vein with a straight sets victory over Feds 7-6, 7-6. Neither player had their serve broken, and whilst TBs featuring Rafa as usually watched behind our fingers, he actually performed pretty well and came back from a teetering start in the first.
The match was actually rather enjoyable to watch, and whilst it was still an exho, the tennis played was of a much better standard than what we saw in December. Whilst Feds might be convincing himself that he still has more to offer, so does our Rafa me-thinks and I expect a further step up in this week's "real" tournament in Doha.
Amusing, Rafa was presented with a blue goldfish bowl as a trophy and maybe setting a new trend of "licking" trophies instead of biting them. Hehe ...
