Well ... Rafa didn't ring in sick today and instead took his place on the court against the "Next Best Thing" Gulbis, whose evil twin appeared today.
Rafa started really well and raced off to a 4-1 win, but then lost the break, and it all ended in a tie-break which Rafa won out. He then broke in the second to lead 3-2, and with Gulbis serving to stay in it, Rafa broke and won the set 6-3.
Rafa did look a bit better than he did yesterday and he did play some superlative shots. His stats seemed fairly reasonable in this match, and when interviewd, he said that it was the best that he'd played so far in Doha. Considering he's not a full strength, he did well enough and lets hope he can improve without draining himself due to his illness.
By the way ... does anyone think that the Granny behind Rafa enjoyed the view?? Racy old minx ...
