Rafa downs Dodig ...

D'ya know what? Regardless how this US Open pans out and whoever may be the eventual winner, all I can say that it's currently a joy to watch Rafa playing at the moment. He faced a rugged test with Dodig, who doggedly threw everything he could possibly muster at him, and yet it was still never enough. Rafa faced break points a couple of times, but still he remains unbroken. "Oh, it will happen ..." he jokingly said in his post-match presser.

I can't remember a time when I could sit there watching Rafa without constant niggles in my tummy, a constant worry. He still gave us those worries in the clay seasons of 2012 and this, but since his Wimbledon demise, he's come back with a self belief and confidence that is such a joy to see. And it reads across in his tennis.

OK, Rafa still has a better tier of player to face should he continue in this competition, but I still maintain his play has been wonderful to watch.

Thankfully, we are spared the snooze fest that is Izzzzzzner in then next round, and Rafa will face Kohlschreiber. So keep up with the good work, Rafa. We're loving it.
